Thanks John. Your post was how I heard the news and the best way as I could imagine to hear it. My heart goes out to you. Vale' Father Bob. Some of the good actually don't go so young.
Rest in Power Father Bob ❤️️ there will never be another to match you.
I loved your banter John. It reminded me so much of me & my great aunt, who was a Sister of Mercy, who died last year. Me the young athiest with tattoos & piercings, she was the most supportive & accepting member of my family. & she faught the nuns in her nursing home over 'same sex marriage', said she would vote yes, even if the bishop said not to. Because it was the right thing to do. If all Christians were like her [Sister Gabriel Flood] & Bob, we would live in a different world.
Our heartfelt condolences, your beautiful and surprising friendship is an inspiration in these times and never failed to warm our hearts. Thank you. What you both created was a great gift of reason and Bob will be a great loss to the world, his big heart and courage is legendary as is yours. From afar, sending you light.
For various reasons, I’m only just finding out about this.
I feel like Bob’s looking over my shoulder right now and waiting for me to say something awkwardly emotional about him, so that he can go ‘nope. Nope. None of that’ which would cause John start making that whiney noise he does so well.
John, you and Bob were the greatest. Always making us laugh and think and look outward at the world from under our doonas. I still can’t listen to the last ever episode of Sunday Night Safran. I could never bring myself to do it.
Thank you John. Everything you write or make is so free of bullshit and so slyly meaningful. I follow it all. But Sunday Night Safran with John Safran and Father Bob McGuire couldn’t be beat.
We only have you left now John. Australia needs you. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful tribute to Fr Bob, John. Your relationship with him was something truly special and I am sending you my deepest condolences. I'll always remember Father Bob for his kindness, humour but most importantly, for his profound humanity.
Immediately thought of you today John. Very sorry for your personal loss, and that of Melbourne in general. As expected your tribute is beautifully written with the perfect mix of anecdote and emotion.
So funny, authentic and caring towards others. There will only be one Father Bob and we are all "the pour" (poor) today. My thoughts and sympathies for you John. Such a lovely, unique and enduring friendship.
Vale Father Bob, you could nearly turn a bloke christian.

I'm sure Bob would approve.
It’s a sad day today. Loved listening to you guys and never missed an episode. He was a good man, inspiring others to be better.
